Hello, I'm hoping the collective wonder of STW can help with my bearing query.
I've started my first ever wheel refurb for the winter and have removed the troubling bearings but would like some guidance as to replacements.
The wheelset is an old (2016) DT Swiss R32 Spline which has given me a 6902RZ rear bearing and a 6902LU front bearing.
I know 6902 is the size but the letters indicate the seals. I can't find anyone who makes these specifically sealed bearings.
I presume the seals matter otherwise there would have always been a generic 6902 bearing.
Can I replace with any 6902 bearings ?

Any 6902, LLU are labarynth, 2RS double. Go LLU for better sealing
Wych bearings for such things. Enduro for good, SKF for very good/expensive.
DT OEM for a similar life span to the originals.
As always, the wonder that is STW has answered the call.

p.s. the variety of seals on wheel bearings is mindbending.
Superstar Components are still selling off SKF bearings on the cheap. They're still not cheap but a lot less than they used to be.
You need to spend £100 on bearings and use code SKFCLEARANCE for 75% off.
I bought spares for 2 wheelsets and 2 sets of frame bearings for about £100 (would have been £400 before the code)
DT bearings are designed to work under compression from the Q/R or Thru-Axle as that's how the hubs work.
If you're not using DT bearings then ensure whichever ones you do get are designed to work this way.
If you're not sure which ones you need contact the DT service centre, they're pretty quick at getting back to people.
Thanks @hatter there's certainly more to this than I thought. I thought wheels off, removing bearings, replace and repeat.

They're just deep groove bearings. Just need to be pressed in properly to make sure endload and bearing clearances are right.
Anything of reasonable quality will give suitable clearances.
If it's for a winter bike, maybe look at the SKF MTRX bearings, there are a few of us over here trialling them, they seem much more durable than ordinary grease filled bearings.
Personally, I'd avoid enduro, i've had nothing but hassle and early failures with them.
