Wow, I feel much better about that Flow EX rim I bought which is still waiting to be built!
Apart from that, a couple of Easton Monkeylite bars.
A Sunn Ultra road frame. It's probably never going to get built up but it's a lovely shape and I can't bring myself to sell it on. Same goes for the cromo Tzar frame I bought to reframe my ally Tzar onto, the ally one rides really nicely. Again, it's a nice shape and fairly scarce so I can't bring myself to sell it on 😳
edit- and a stock of five new-in-box X9 9 speed shifters, bought in bulk just in case like. Then I went SS. What a spanner... 😆
Pair of unused Mavic deemax ultimate
Though I wouldnt like to work out the value of all the spare riding kit I have bought in sales etc, boxes full of the stuff.
This thread should he changed to who's a hoarder. 😀
A complete spare 2005 specialized enduro bike. Soon to be put into second place by a complete spare Ibis Mojo HD (complete with cane creek double barrel shock & marzocchi 55 rc 3 ti forks, carbon wheels etc).
I really should sell one (or both)
Maybe a 3T carbon road handlebar, or some Formula T1 brakes.
Probably got enough stuff to make three one-third finished bikes despite a concerted effort to clear bits out this year.
I managed to build a bike and a bit out of my spares and sell them on, now I have no spare parts in the garage, other than a Goldtech Stoke for 32mm Boxxers!
Wish I had some spares to build up a 29er XC hardtail!
Wow reading this makes me feel so good that I need to go shopping for components 😀
As much as I'd like a spares box full of lovely bits I always sell all my spares and spend the money on what I want at that point in time so my current spares box has two broken mechs, an old stem and 2 tyres in
That said I wouldn't mind a FF29 spare like Roverpig
I wouldn't really call my stuff spares. It's more like the stuff I really can't be arsed to sell 😕
Not parts as I got rid of the spares I had but I do seem to have a complete bike I don't ride any more that just sits their. 15" Enigma Ti ego frame with DT Swiss forks, Thompson stem/post, Easton monkey bars, Hope wheels, XT brakes, X9 rear mech, Sram carbon cranks 42/38 rings.
Keep thinking of sticking slicks on it and use it as a winter trainer but can't be arsed as I just use my road bike.
A Tune Bobo headset in Rasta.
Far too nice to fit to anything as dirty as a bicycle!
as said above, not so much spares as 'stuff I cba to sell'
Surely the key issue with a spare parts box is when the quantity/value of components goes beyond a certain (subjective) tipping point, beyond which you accelerate into buying more stuff and building a whole new bike?
I have a Renthal Duo stem, a fatbar lite and some assorted inner tubes. It's a very pressing concern for me to deduce what bike it should be built into!

Exactly

Well, if you want a large frame in Green, drop me a line 🙂
Santa Cruz Blur frame in medium. Offers gladly accepted 🙂
A set of Zipp 60s
3T Scatto bars
3T Sphinx LTD bars
Campag record 8 speed Ergos and 10 speed silver Record hubs on grey Open Pro rim. I know I could easily sell both, I have no need for them but can't bring myself to sell them. On the other hand the Specialized Enduro has been unused for 4 year this week, but no one wants that.
Currently some xtr trail brakes, front needed a bleed just before a trip away so it was easier to swap back to old lx brakes which I haven't been bothered to switch back....
It's about time I had the annual clear out....
Rover pig you don't have an email in your profile, I do however ...
(Thanks David H) I have a Whyte E120 sitting around. Open to offers... Small, great condition.
I have a ti full sus frame that should be in a museum
And of course The Girlfriends Bike.
A set of 26inch Mavic crossmax...don't own a 26 bike anymore
A pair of Problem Solvers to mount the Wife's SRAM gears to her Shimano brakes. But on fitting them they moved the shifters so far away from the bars her thumbs couldn't reach them. Came straight off and went in a ziplock bag and have stayed there for the last 6 months.
A small Cotic Hemlock frame which was replaced after a couple of rides with a medium sized one.
Bought off the OP's brother-in-law 😉
10 speed silver Record hubs on grey Open Pro rim
Oh yeah, that reminds me 🙂 I've got a Record front hub somewhere, along with at least three Open Pro rims (at least one of which is unused and still in its original plastic wrapping).
I think there is a Gravity Dropper lurking in one of the boxes too. Really must have a clearout soon.
Ritchey WCS Overdrive stem in 100 mm flavour. Bought when the Propel was built up because it matched the WCS matrix stem on my supposedly identical geometry TCR (1 1/8"). Of course one ride in and it was obvious it wasn't long enough and was replaced by a Giant 110 mm Contact stem.
Also a Garmin 500 that languished unloved, a Brooks saddle bought for my wife and a few sets of wheels.
The tandems don't count as "spares", but the kids are a little too large for the rear of the kiddyback, so it may be finally time to reconcile the two into a decent road tandem for some Teenage speed.
Tyres. Lots of tyres. A pair of DH tyres (No DH bike), 4 spare pairs of road tyres, a couple of odd MTB ones as well. Not overly expensive items on their own but plenty of value in them as a whole.
Bar that, lots of stems, a few pairs of bars, a saddle or 2 and a pair of cheap road wheels. And old drive chain, still not sure what use old rings, cassettes and chains have but either way, I still have them.
Tired - what are you doing with the Garmin? Might be interested.
I had a big clear out of almost everything when we moved a year ago but
- a set of fox 32 rlc with brand new uppers
- 2 spare Rohloffs. Not sure what they're spare for as my main sus bike is now Pinion and my new hardtail 1x11. There's another on my 26 hArdtail but can't see that getting any use now I've got the 29er (plan was to break it up which would give me a third 'spare hoff.
A new hub based city bike needed I think.
I'm an amateur compared to most of you
The spares box is just spares and bits and pieces. Anything good is on a bike and being used
A Campag Chorus carbon chainset - my legs aren't strong enough for it in the Dales so I bought a compact 😳
I'm delighted that one of you has my dream hardtail frame in his spares collection (looking at you mt!)
Please be any size but medium, any size but medium, any size but medium......
A pair of Giant carbon hub, composite spoked road wheels that I bought to but on the road bike and never did.
Must put them in the classifieds at some point.
