[#1286154]

I been reading recently and looking at peoples new build and buying newer wheels.

whats the difference between all the wheels and standards?

i dont get the difference? are they smoother or just cosmetic?

same goes for pedals?

some pedals are like 60£, mine are plastic that came on my bike standard, why would i want to upgrade, are they better?

thanks for your help understanding

nick

a lot of wheels on cheaoer bikes and some not so cheap one's are heavy, often with cheap not easy to fix hubs so upgrading these is a good idea as good light and stiff wheels make a big difference to the feel of the bike and serviceable freehubs and bearings is better long term
cheap pedals tend to have crap bearings and are heavy so upgrading these is worthwhile for longevity and weight
then madness takes over
and you're lost 😉

yep, upgrade when bits break or wareout
if you have discs you need disc hubs not all hubs take discs so be aware when buying s/hand older stuff,
any 26 inch wheel will fit allthough some d/h wheels have wider rear hubs 150mm,
standard is 135mm wide
hope this helps 😀
