Whats the latest go to for bottle cages.

I have a steel King cage which has been great, but now it’s becoming too slack.

Fidlock?

Not that posh Elite one that dumped a load of bottles in the Giro leading to Thomas crashing out.

Other Elite cages are brilliant.

I always bent them back when they went slack?

Can’t be anymore help, I just seem to have too many of them and they all work!

I own a Fidlock on my Cotic and it's okay. The bottle is pretty crap for the price.

This is by far the lightest and what I'm using on my new xc bike.

Zee or Fidlock. The latter with the bottle with a cap is a bit of a revelation in the current sloppy conditions!

As above Fidlock with the new style capped bottle.
Also good for frames with no bottle mounts or very little room.

I've always used Elite Custom cages but I used to keep hearing the Bontrager ones were good

I picked up some cheap carbon ones from Wiggle a few years back. They old most things really well and were not super-expensive. They look good as well.

I like jumps and drops on my hardtail, so my bottle needs to be secure.

I’ve been bending my King cage back for a tighter fit for several years now. It holds for a while then slackens off again. I don’t want to lose my drink halfway down a bumpy run. 🙂

Blackburn MTN is about as tough as it gets. Can also be "tuned" to improve fit.

Never been a Trek fan but I now have XR2/3 tyres, a back light, gilet and bottles cages and they are all excellent - starting to quite like the bikes which is a big deal for a specialised fanboy!

I've used Bontrager ones for years - the Elite (previously called the RL)

I'm running cheap carbon eBay ones, never lost a bottle. My Fabric one however....

I’ve got a couple of salsa nickless cages on my gravel bike. They seem bombproof and a little better at holding bottles in than some other designs.

I haven't tried one but Dawn To Dusk have some interesting ones, they have specific models for particular locations on the bike with clamping forces to suit.

I have several Mt Zoom ti cages from bellboyant.
They’re extraordinarily light and just work.

I love the fabric bottle and locating lug combo as it leaves the bike looking clean when i'm not using it.

Rubbish over jumps and drops, at the local I tend to dump it near the top and have a sip when i'm lining up for another run.

I'd just bend it a tad OP.

I get on best with blackburn Al cages, also bendable.

9g? Bit of a boat anchor, that. CarbonWorks one is 8g including the bolts.

Only time I've ever dropped a bottle was with a Zee.

Although in fairness to it, it was run inverted, under the downtube.

I'm a big fan of the synchros tailor cage 1.0 (side entry). Have one on the trail and xc bike, carbon cage for less than £20 and haven't dropped a bottle even when it gets chunky.

I use these:

I've never dropped bottles out of these, on or off road.

(These cages are about as far up the P X product range I will go).

Ew no. I drop bottles from those on smooth roads and got rid of them.

You got them on upside down?

Specialized Zee vs. Lezyne Flow SL - anyone had both, is either better?

Standard plastic elite (custom race?) or zee if space is tight.

Xlab Gorilla XT. Eye-wateringly expensive but you’ll never drop a bottle ever again. I’ve tried loads over the years (The Specialized Zee is particularly useless) and this is the only cage that keeps it locked in.

I've got these on my road and MTB. Great bottle cage imo.

I have zee cages on my Spesh ebikes as they double as extender battery holders. Very solid cages though not the easiest to put a bottle back into on the move.

I've got the Planet X carbon ones on all my bikes. Only ever had a bottle come out once, and that includes riding on Belgian cobbles and Berkshire back lanes.

However... I use Camelbak Podium bottles and I have a feeling they are a little fatter than some others.

When it’s dry I cannot fault my Fidlock one bit. Bottles never once fell off after riding rough rocks and jumping.
The mud however has caused one lost bottle and a dropping off a few times. Mud can get in the springs and it no longer locks in. Although once I was aware of this issue I just make sure the bottles fully engaged, no longer falls off.

Ditto with the Planet X / Podium bottle combo. Nice and snug.

I indulged and got a Silca Sicuro Ti cage. Figured I'll own it for life and transfer it from bike to bike. It's light, holds bottles well and is a subtle bit of bling.

Lezyne Flow - even the side entry ones are solid.
