[#2075444]

I fancy replacing my Cove Handjob frame with a lightweight XC hardtail, the Handjob has a decent build - RF Deus/Evolve XC kit, LX drive train and Reba Races that'll be transferred to the new frame.

I fancy either a Kinesis Maxlight XC Pro or an On-One XC whippet, they're both the same price, I know the whippet is lighter, but it takes a funny BB92 - what are they?

Anything else worth considering? I'm not sure if I fancy a full on alloy HT hence the two mentioned above?

Pedal Force carbon from eBay.

BB92 is just pressfit BB cartridges, think of a normal BB, but with no thread, like headset cups really.

Is that one of those Chinese ones?

So how do I fit a BB is it a special arrangement?

I assume you just use a headset press on it's side, it's how I've always fitted BB30 bearings, and yes one of the Chinese frames.

I had one of these, although these look good! In fact, the latter looks similar to a Whippet, wouldn't be surprised if they're from exactly the same factory! The Whippet just has the 'bells and whistles' of direct mount FD, interchangeable dropouts, and the enhanced clearance on the seat stays. Although I guess it is only £120ish cheaper than a Whippet as they're on sale.

I had an 18, but the top tube was pretty short, check the geometry if you go down that route. They were better made than I expected, and 1/4 the price of a Whippet!

Maxlight XC2 if you can find one in your size? A steal for £220-ish.

I have a large XC2. I am 6 foot with regular inside leg, and fairly average sized/shaped body. Fits me well, set up with layback seatpost and a 90mm stem.

I have tried a shorter stem, but find it rides well on everything as it is.
