so, say you were to receive a grand, somewhat unexpectedly, and were in the position to be able to spend the lot on things for yourself; what would you spend it on? bike related, but not a bike itself...

For me it would be a new frame, it's the weakest link in my bike at the moment.

A custom titanium hardtail frame and if there's enough left over, rims for the fatbike.

A tent and camping gear?
YHA membership.
Nice camera.
A really good two weeks in Ireland?

Or a Brompton.
It's not really a bike, more like ridable luggage.

How about a LeJog, visiting some great vegan restaurants and hotels?

Or how about WWOOF'in for a while?

God daughter found it an an ideal way to turn a few quid into transferrable skills whilst seeing new places.

We did a week this summer.
It's fun.

OP said it has to be bike related! Otherwise I'd obviously use it to pay off some of the mortgage 😉

deferred gratification, and I would only have to wait another 23 years to claim my extra £250...

More sensibly, not another bike, probably a mini trip with the missus and then another mini cycling trip, and some camping kit for me...

I'd absolutely bloody love a holiday. Never been bothered by them really, but by really want one now.

Wake up somewhere warm, go for a pootle on some dusty singletrack taking in new scenery & widlife, eat some local food, have a swim, potter about somewhere, more food, then enjoy a drink watching sunset and looking at stars on a warm evening until the early hours.

..and repeat for 7 nights.

*sighs*

If you gave me £1k and told me I had to spend it on bike gear I'd get a Lyrik and a Fox Float X2 for my enduro bike to jazz it up a bit.

You're not going to give me £1k though, I bet.

I would buy a Osprey Farpoint 40 flight bag, thats £75 with my YHA discount and put the rest in my current acc so it looked better every time I checked.

A new sump guard for my rally car, some race overalls, then a silenced .410 shotgun, probably enough left for quite a few cartridges too.
