Need a new front hub for a winter road wheel build. Probably just go Shimano as they're cheapish, easy to service, and I don't mind the weight. Though in the STW spirit of obsessing about everything... what else should I consider at around the 50 quid mark? Hope RS Mono? Novatec? Campag? DT Swiss 350 worth a look?

winter wheel - any old shimano and fill it with good grease, even Sora or Tiagra will go on forever and are dirt cheap, marginal difference in hub weight is a bit of a non-issue isn't it?

I've a set of RS Monos and they have been faultless. Not much more to say about a roadie front hub TBH.

For winter, why not consider a dynamo hub?

scotroutes, something I'd not considered. I'm never out for long in the dark in winter though.

amedias, probably what I'll do, though with 105.
