Off up there for the first time in years, rain is forecast for sat. Will it be boggy slogfest or do the trail 'upgrades' that i read so much about make it less squelchy following the recent rains?

Given the soaking it's had and going to get tomorrow I would expect boggy slogfest in parts. The trail 'upgrades' help but there's plenty of potentially boggy and unpleasant stuff left.

From Langsett once you've crossed the ford and slabs at the top of Mickleden Edge the new path holds up ok, but as it zig zags across the stream bed expect wet it to be wet, peaty mud doesn't get too bad until the last km to the cairn, the drops are waterlogged and I'd take a snorkel.

fun tho! ๐Ÿ˜€

Since Blackamoor is mostly lakes and rivers at the moment (and that is quite a well draining area) I would expect Cutgate peaty sections to be a swim/bogsnorkelling exercise ๐Ÿ™ As said above the langsett side should be fine.

Most of the rocky riverbed section now has a flagstone bypass up to one side on top of the bank.
