Looking for a budget friendly waterproof to stash in the bumbag for unexpected downpours. Endura Humvee looks like the go-to option but how small does it pack down? And what other options are out there?
Been quite impressed by my Madison jackets, can't remember the name of mine, but it was their packable waterproof softshell, and it's been very good.Edit - it's a Flux Superlight, not quite as budget as I remembered at £129 rrp.
Pick any gore tex paclite jacket. I have a gore commuter one as they do sleeves long enough fir my monkey arms (Endura never used to) and it has a "relaxed cut" for my stout body.
Galibier is my first stop for any bike clothing...
The VentUltra jacket is marketed as a windproof, but I've found it perfectly good at keeping me dry enough as well through showers. Packs down into a jersey pocket; probably half a pocket if you wanted to shove something else in.
Nukeproof Blackline 2.5l Packable - good for when you get caught out, wouldn’t be the choice if you were doing a long ride that was going to be wet throughout.
A different approach with a well designed windproof that has some waterproofness, the Paramo Fuera Classic Smock may provide a solution whilst still being packable for around £60. It will also certainly avoid the claminess of traditional waterproof jackets, and it’s waterproofness can be refreshed with Nikwax whereas others tend to delaminate and wet out

Fits easily into my Evoc Hipbag
Most of the time I rely on a Ron Hill Pertex jacket. Not waterproof but keeps you warm in the wind and wet
But the Saxon if rain is definitely forecast.
I've just bought an Altura Esker packable. £60. Looks good to me, although it hasn't rained since I bought it. You're welcome.
Another (Scottish) voter here, supporting the Keela Saxon. Properly waterproof, reasonably light and compact, very breathable and both decently priced for direct sale and made in Glenrothes, not Vietnam. Repairable at the factory, too. Just makes sense on every level.
