Last time at Afan I ran an Ardent front and Larsen rear, fast and tough.

Snakeskin Nobby Nic or Exo Advantage or Ardent would do you nicely. (even standard maxxi are tougher than most I find) I'd recommend Kenda's fantastic Slant 6 for a rear but I know some people find the kenda sidewalls delicate- never had any problems with them myself but it does put me off recommending them. Still, fantastic rear tyres anyway.
