...I'm out of touch with things at the minute, and I've not asked a what tyre thread for years.
So what fattish, light, quick rolling tyre can I stick on my rigid bike. For bumbling around on, so ultimate grip not an issue.
I use conti race kings . At very low psi 24 tops . Smooth fast and comfortable !
Small block 8 in a 2.35"?
26x2.4 racing ralphs for me. Big fast rolling tyre, tick.
Not Conti Verticals.
Following this thread with interest, hoping someone raves about the Mountain King II...
Continental X-Kings. Get the expensive black chilli ones in the Protection casing.
another vote for X-kings at 2.4 very nice; fast rolling and pretty grippy.
Another X king vote. I use Protections tubeless but only in 2.2 but will be changing the front to a 2.4 at one stage.
They even seem to roll well on the road and don't give knob noise (nothing worse than knob noise)
Maxxis aspen- the 2.25 comes up surprisingly big (much bigger than the 2.25 Ardent, closer to the 2.4). Light, fast, comfy, occasionally a little sketchy if you brake in a straight line but nothing nasty. I loved it but they don't make it as a 29er! The 2.1 is OK but not the same.
Hans dampfs fit the bill perfectly
