[#1051779]

ok, I'l looking for recomendations to replace my knackered Pikes. Ideally I'd like something a bit lighter, around 140mm travel (it's to go on an old Enduro with 130ish on the back) and needs to be 20mm bolt thru as that what my hub is. Been looking at '09 Revs with Maxle, or maybe '10 ones if they're not much taller? Any other suggestions?

Left field but very, very good.

I love mine.

Is that the Thor? They do look nice but pricey compared to others. Hmm. Are they worth the extra cash? Manitou Minutes are another one in that price range.

I'd have said 32 Vanillas but assuming you can't convert your hub to 15QR...

are the pikes unfixable? I'm surprised it is cheaper to buy a new fork than repair.

I've got 120 Durnins but the Thors are what I was thinking of. If they are like mine they are lighter than the competition, stiff, easy to set up and easy to maintain.

I'd spotted the Pikes, they're good value. The Revs are a bit lighter though. Anyone know what the crown to axle lengths are on the Revs and Pikes? Can't find it on the Sram site.
V8, the Pikes are fixable, for about £300 as the stanchions need to be replaced and it'll be a service on top. for a extra £50 I can have a new pair!?!

2010 Revs look a good bet for a good trail fork this year, same axel to crown as the 140mm version last year apparently. Although not exactly sure what that measurement is. Anyone with a tape measure and a shiney pair? Quite a bit lighter than the Pikes too...

Thors? If they've sorted out the rather linear travel then yep, they're worth the extra.

Vans would have been a good bet, but my hub's a Nuke Proof generator, which is 20mm or qr only. for 15mm like Fox it'd mean a new hub.

I've just fixed mine with some nail varnish - seem ok so far!

i got s pair of 2010 150mm revelations from rutland cycling for £315 (as did a few others off here). they are knocking them out at £350 but you can get a 10% off voucher if you hassle them on facebook. they are wicked! ive got them on one bike and pikes air 454's on the other and they are just as stiff but are a bit lighter. same internals and all that which i get on well with anyway. good buy IMO.

Bit of oil in the air chamber and the travel gets much more progressive or you can run them a little harder than you would usually. Mine aren't too divey.

V8, the stanchions are quite badly worn, they'll take a bit more than some nail varnish to fix! The ano's gone most of the way round now unfortunately. Revs it is then!

Good deal on 09 Maxle revs

not bad, better deal on 2010 maxle revs

the 09 maxle revs are basically pikes with rev uppers, the 2010 ones have a completely redisigned lower leg hence the greater weight saving.

With Rockshox prices like that, surely Fox/dealers are going to have to drop their prices. Yes/No?

the rutland cycling ones are probably grey imports/OE i reckon. i asked my lbs if they could price match or even get close, they said not only could they not get close, they couldnt get stock until 2010. still, at £315 im not complaining!

I've been looking at the Thors - they seem to have a pretty universally good write up - and I like active forks.
They are pricey though, and I still haven't got over the fact that I failed to bid on a pair on Ebay last week that went for £255 and were (a claimed) one ride old.

Revs all the way- reliable, excellent performance, sensible weight. The 09 maxle ones are a little heavy by comparison with the new ones but they're still a fair old saving over a Pike, and though they're not quite as strong, they're hardly puny. I do like mine.

Having said that, I'd also like a set of 2010 u-turn maxles, as long as I can shorten them internally to run 100-130mm.
