are you looking under the bottom bracket, was there a number there to begin with? i don't see how a number can "wear off"
Some frames don't have a frame number under the bottom bracket.
the shop it was bought from *should* keep a record, but apart from that yer stuffed.

sounds nicked to be honest. one smack from a stone ain't gonna take a whole frame number off.
