[#950912]

Afternoon folks,

As above really. Air preferred over coil, QR dropouts fine, any thoughts?

The fork is to accompany a 130mm full sus frame for cross country/bit of everything.

The on one offer on the Reba looks good but don't know how easy/possible it is to increase the travel.....

Cheers in advance.

Mark

Merlin have some excellent fork deals.

Recons or Revelations would be my preferred choice, but I might be tempted to spend a little more for some Fox Vanilla Rs.

magura menja 🙂

I shoped arround and got some for £180 when the pound was good against the dollar. Feel like old skool coil open bath marzocchi's, but with a much lighter (lighter than floats even?) , much stiffer chasis (easily the stiffest QR forks ive ever used).

The downside is theyr pretty basic in the damping department. If I knew what I was doing I'd add more low speed compression and rebound damping as the current rebound damper feels like its sat somewhere in the middle so you have to comprimise with the rebound set about a click slower than I'd like for the high speed damping, and a couple of clicks too fast to completely stop it toping out.

They they look on the money.

Whats the feeling towards the recons? I have seen a 351 solo air version for £189 somewhere

Recons are decent. I've ran a set for a couple of years and they've been faultless.

As an aside, how come revelations are so cheap this year. Even the full RRP on the models post above is about half the RRP for a set of Rebas 😕

'I have seen a 351 solo air version for £189 somewhere'

That would be JE James - so not worth the inevitable hassle

How about these - http://www.fudgescyclestore.com/index.php?p=88350

A 150mm fork is in dire need of a bolt through, so q/r Revelations are too long for most mid travel applications and not beefy enough for folk who want to make the most of six inches of travel IMHO.

Might explain the price.

LMTTmark - do a search on here, JE James have a reputation for sh*te mail order service - not that i used them myself, but enough was said on here to put me off buying those Recon's from them, despite the good price.

I've ordered from jejames several times and never had any problems - bit slower than CRC but fine.

letmetalktomark - Have nothing but confidence if you do decide to buy from us.

From the negativity surrounding us on here, there was only a very small percentage of STW posters that did come forward and send us their genuine issues. I'm happy to say we promptly dealt with any wrong doings and every customer that came to us, went away happy knowing that we had made amends. For the rest, well we're still waiting for contact from them. 😉

If you do still have an outstanding issue email: stforum@jejamescycles.com

Our Mail Order service has improved, and we are rapidly moving in the right direction to offer the service we want our customers to have when shopping online with us.

We’ve just implemented the 3D secure online shopping too, so all our shoppers now have even more peace of mind when shopping with us.

If you want me to check the availability of a product, send an email to stforum@jejamescycles.com and i'll happily bounce you a reply back.

All the best.

JEJ

Hi jejames cycles - one thing that puts me off using your site is the way things often show up on froogle searches on your site, but are out of stock when you go to the page.

Hi Grumm thanks for the question.

I understand your frustration.

This issue is something that all online retailers experience, and will continue to experience because product lines chop, change, and become unavailable so rapidly.

There are two sides to this issue.

The first is:

The item shows up on a search engine, upon clicking through to our site the item isn't in stock. The item is no longer available from the supplier, therefore it shouldn't be on our website.

(In answer to the above): We have increased our staff force by 20% to take care of this issue, it is something we are aware of and are working hard to resolve and will continue to work until we are on top of the issue.

& the second:

The item shows up on a search engine, upon clicking through to our site the item isn't in stock. It is still available from the supplier, therefore it stays on our website.

(In answer to the above): Certain item's we don't constantly carry in stock, and every so often a regularly stocked product may become out of stock due to delivery/warehouse issues. These item's are left on our site because you can still place an order through our website after checking the availability via email or phoning us, we will in turn order the item from the relevant supplier and have it shipped out to you as soon as it arrives to us.

As I initially stated, this question is something that all retailers at some point will have to answer.

I hope this reply helps.

All the best.

JEJ

hmm. when i was looking for revelations a while ago, i got numerous hits off your site jej. some must have dated back to when a number of sellers had them for 200 - 230 quid ( a good few years back now ). i was coming back with 4 or 5 results from your site, at different prices. cynics might just have thought that they were left up in order to get more hits on your site and more folk browsing....
i'm sure you're addressing that too.
all the best.

I have to apologize to the folk of JE James - this wasn't how I thought this thread would turn out! 😕

Still....good advice regarding the product and clarification from suppliers - what more could one want 😉

Hi Del,

Can you elaborate, because if i'm reading your comment correctly, you are saying that we had the same product appear upto 5 times on the search engine in question, at different prices, with a direct link through to our website

The reason I'm so confused, is because this is impossible?

I look forward to your reply.

yes, but in your case it does seem to be like being caught doing 250mph in a konnigseg, then claiming that everyone creeps over the limit occasionaly!
