[#6917998]

Taking delivery of a Spesh enduro 29 and need to swap out the 70mm stem for something shorter.

I am 5th 11 and gone for a large frame, and thinking of a 50mm zero rise with a 10mm rise bar.

However I have seen the syntace flat force which has a 17 degree negative rise stem in 44mm.

I guess thecquestion is what stem sizes do you guys use? World of 29 is a bit new to me.

It will have a load to do with how the bike feels for you and your overall proportions, give it a few rides and work out what would feel better. Or the one that's on offer.

I've bought a cheap bar/stem (760mm/50mm) from On One to test on my new bike, before buying somthing "nice". Superstar were also selling control hardware off cheap using the voucher code "control25". So I'd suggest you experimenting with cheaper kit before laying out a load of cash.

I picked up an on-one 50mm stem for £20 on planet-x (and a tenner for some 760mm bars)

Can't fault them at all.

Why so sure you need to swap it? Ride it for a bit first.

Was 50mm 0deg stem and 745 + 15 rise; but went to 70 0deg stem + 745 flat and found it much better

You going to be putting 650B+ wheels in it?
50mm stem no spacers and a flat bar BTW.

When I went to a 29er, I thought that the 70mm stem might be too short!

After a few rides I realised that actually it was about right for the handlebar width on the bike (which now feels a bit narrow).

Make sure it's a 29er specific stem

Beware of the on-one stems, the faceplate corners cracked on mine.

Probably wasn't 29er specific...

I'm selling a 55mm Easton Haven - all black....

It came off my 29er, so it's bound to fit 😉

70mm Thomson stem and s-works carbon flat bar on my stumpy 29'er.

Feels great, but I went through several setups before deciding on what I now ride. Be prepared to experiment
