Right I've sold 2 bikes and am looking for a used Singlespeed specific frame. I have amassed a pile of blingy stuff over the years, so am after something light and lovely to attach them to.
I've had quite a few SS bikes but am interested to see what you lot rate as worth looking out for...
That one ----->
Eer what??
no, <---------- that one 😉
pffffff ^ that one is better.
I always wanted to try a Salsa Juan Solo.
Lightness-wise you would have to spend a lot of money to get lighter in weight than a whippet or s/h slotty scandal, non? I suppose it depends how much you have to spend...
It's got to be non disc, stands to reason..................
If its non disc then use a WI Eccentric Eric hub and what evva frame you wants.
Surly is the only real choice. unless you find something a bit boutique
Depends on your budget and 26 or 29er?
Salsa El Mariachi Ti and Kona Raijin would be on my list - they do come up 2nd hand if you are keen.
Nah, EBB isn't proper SS.
I love Surly (all 4 of mine), but this needs to be boutique, already tried On One (great), Spot Brands (really good but disc), IF Ti(weird head angle, but that was soooooo light). I rode a Soulcraft and IF steel SS which were both too big for me but I would have sold a kidney for either...............

How can EBB not be proper SS?
Call Matt at 18 bikes, (or similar frame maker man)
tell him what you want,
give him credit card details
wait
get frame
I'm going to be selling my mk1 19" love/hate frame in the next week, emails in profile if you're interested.
Edit: It's ebb though!
Nah, EBB isn't proper SS.
Hahahhahahahahahaha.
Bear in mind some of the frames mentioned above are most hefty. Surly's lovely, but chunky. As is Dialled.
Eric ain't EBB, tis a hubba jubba
My Curtis S1 frame is still looking for a new home... Ridden ~10 times so like new still.
Why on earth would you not want discs? Genuine question
Missed the non disc bit. Why?
See if this tempts you... £200 posted with headset, Twelfty post and seat clamp.

Dialled Love/Hate here.
Love it.
DeKerf Solitaire. Can be found relatively cheap on eBay as well.
I like v brakes. I weigh almost nothing, I have a NOS never fitted KCNC V brakeset and I have Chris King non disc hubbed wheels and Pace RC 31 forks with v brake bosses ready to attach to said lovliness......
and I like the simplicity (weight saving) of track ends. They look so right..
I do like the look of Dekerf, but aren't they disc, similar with the Curtis.......
The On One is heavy (as are the Surlys) but they are a hoot to ride, but for this build it needs to be silly light......
Oh and the Jones, lovely but; the one size fits all "this means it will accomodate riders between 5'9" and 6'3""
I'm 5' 8" standing on something an 1" high.........although I may sneak down to Charlie's for a play.........oh and I have 26" wheels
but for this build it needs to be silly light......
I have an old Gary Fisher world cup frame and a Morati Ti fork in V for this, but my Eric is eccentric at 130mm 🙁
Non-disc Solitaires come up on retrobike now and again.
Could take my frame and send it back to Curtis for them to weld some brake bosses onto it? 😉
Sounds like you should buy an old frame and get it modded with track ends.
Here's my sub 4lb Kona Explosif frame with track ends fitted by Charlie Ralph at Alves (now retired).
I did this on the cheap as I love/hate this bike and one day I will break it (again... the chainstay snapped hence the new dropouts... but I want to break it properly next time) 😈
With so much ss lovliness that has been produced in the past, I can wait. It took 2 years to buy the IF, so I'll bide my time til the right thing comes along....I can't really justify another bike, except I have a pile of nice things that really should be attached to something...
Jones Spaceframe certainly worth a test ride - you might want to bolt an extra three inches... to those wheels you have. See Charlie, he can help.
I've done the whole retro rebuild thing and it was fun... the most fun was in finding the old bits and building the bike. There was fun in riding it but I couldn't help myself and I kept pushing things until they broke 🙁 , which was no fun (I still have the scars from breaking some RC35's and the more modern RC31's which followed... perhaps that bike was my Eleanor?).
What I'm trying to say is that old bikes handle like old bikes and new bikes are (hold the press) better-er-er in so many ways.
When I break the Explosif I'll not be looking for an old frame to replace it with so I can keep using the bits... it will be out with the old and in with the new 😛
That said I still visit retrobike to look at the shiney old tat... but I have no wish to dive down that rabbit burrow again.
Good luck finding your "Eleanor".
Salsa juan solo you say? i'm selling this 16" complete bike for £400 if you're interested.
mavic slr's, xt cranks/v brakes, answer carbon bars, hope headset, salsa shaft seatpost and charge saddle, racing ralphs (tubeless), fox fx80 terralogic forks, genuinely immaculate as new condition.
Don't really want to split as the bike as a whole is amazing to ride, very-very light.
Not been ridden for 3 years, and i'm selling it as i cant ride ss anymore due to muscle spasm type problems in right leg, every time i stand up to put power down my right leg goes wibbly-wobbly.
drat can't see pics from work. Going straight over to Ashton Court for some mud action after work, then bath, then food, then pub, but will try having a quick shifty later....but I really don't want a whole bike and I'm probably hankering after something even more exotic........
Dialled Love/Hate (26) and Singular Swift (29) both lots of fun.
Both have EBB, it feels like proper SS to me!
@MattO&O, am liking the look of your Niner!
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm horizontal dropouts
