Turns out I can't get the poppers to stay on, they get really heavy if they're wet, and the zip came away from the fabric anyway, so I've got refund money from CRC.
Do I really have to spend 60-plus quid? I just want knee-length tough-ish shorts with strong fastenings that aren't covered in lightning strikes or bear claws or any of that other xtreme stuff.
I tried Altura Summits but they snagged really badly and wouldn't stay shut. It might be my belly, but I think a button fastener will work better than pop rivets.
Thanks
I find the same with the popper on my Zymes, and yeah, heavy when wet. Zips seem okay, though.
Bought some Royal shorts in one of the recent-ish CRC sales, for not too spendy amounts. Seem much better. The double popper thing they have seems to actually stay fastened.
Still can't find anything that comes close to my old (and now sadly demised) Kona shorts though ๐
I've had the same problem with Zymes. The solution is Sombrio Lowline Epics
They're fantastic! The comfiest piece of cycling clothing I've ever clad my arse in. They're a lot more fitted than they look so don't snag on stuff. And the fastening stay firmly shut.
Do the new design Zymes not have belt loops then?
Found the Royals on eBay, new, for 40. Thanks!

The new zymes have a button and belt instead of that useless press stud.
Another vote for humvee. I got them to replace my zymes. Came with the click fast padded liner too 40 quid.
