...am going back to clipless for trail riding this year.
what shoes should I get?
I do a fair bit of hike-a-bike style riding, so need some that are good at walking as well as riding.
In the past I've had the Shimano DX type - which aren't much good for either IMO! Too much pressure on the cleat, and just not the right fit for walking in - plus the grip is rubbish. I've also got a set of Sidi dominators - but they're useless off the bike - and the ratchet system sometimes gets stuck.
I've been using 5:10s and love the way I can clamber up and down things with them.
Would prefer shoes without mesh on top, and don't want a pair of XC velcro disco slippers.
Short list would be:
Mavic Alpine / Alpine XL
Vaude Ridge AM
Any others?
I'll be getting a set of DX pedals - or those new XTR Trail pedals as well.
MT90's if you like boots & Time pedals
I've been thinking that the garne vega might be worth a closer look in the early summer when I next go shoe shopping.
hmm - don't think I want boots - the MT71 don't look too bad. neither to those Vegas...
