[#9433020]

rebuilding an old Blur xc, with a fox shock, but no rear bushes
According to Santa Cruz site, it's a 3/8 bolt and 18mm wide (total)bushes
So I read that folk had problems with bushes wearing quick
a) do I get new Fox lo friction plastic bushes
b)steel bushes or
c)same old bushes?
and where from?

Has anyone tried these from BETD
http://www.mountainbikecomponents.co.uk/strong-bush

Can I chop down old bushes to 18mm?
And can I use a 10mm bolt instead?

Also does anyone know what size shock it takes?
SC site says 165/38 for small size, but 200/50 for medium.
Its a small, but can I use a larger shock?
There is room in the frame for a 200/50, but will it mess up the geometry?

I used some of the heavy duty ones from tftuned on my XC bike:
http://www.tftuned.com/shock-mount-hardware/
They do custom size too if you really need it.
Maybe digital calipers might help?

It looks like the steel bushes need to be custom made

and I'm not sure that I can get the new low friction ones in the right size

Has anyone here NOT had problems with the bush on your old Blur XC?

Heavy duty mount kit from TF and poly bushes.

Which Blur xc?

22mm and 18mm on here https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/en-GB/bike/blur/xc-1

Though that's the mount (or bush axle/pin) width, not the eyelet bushing. The bushing is fixed by the shock eyelet size. Just get poly bushings for a Fox.

Check out TF's guide http://www.tftuned.com/tech-help/71-mount-kits-and-bushings-for-rear-shocks-a-guide

Though I can't find where the heavy duty kits are now on their site. The ones that they used to do anyway.

I had a Blur Classic about 5 years ago, the LBS shop got a full bearing pack for it via Jungle Products, and fitted it before I broke something else - over tightening bolts etc.

I had a replacement RP23.

Was a good fast little chuck around bike.

I use the BETD strong bushes, they last ages and the service is good. Just ask them about sizes

So I found a steel one in stock.
Dont want to take the chance of having to find the regular ones again as it's an odd size

strange thing is- the bush is 3/8" ID, a 9.5mm rod fits through it(but not a 9.8), but the rest of the linkage is smaller. The 6800 earings (10mm ID) and the Ti link, are too small for a 9.5mm rod.
So if I use a rod that fits the bearings(maybe 9.00mm?), then the shock bush will be a loose fit
