use a cheapo old style bmx saddle ??? ie not a modern moulded, rigid type. or look at dmr jump bike saddles.

Those Void saddles are way too wide looking for a useful DH saddle, the Blank Ultra Slim might be ok though.

Popular budget choice at the moment is the Charge Spoon, I get on well with mine:

You can still get downhill saddles? Tioga used to make the ultra long ones but since they went out of fassion every bike seems just to use the usual SDG/WTB/etc trail bike offerings.

Spoon's pretty wide, it'd depend on what you're really after but if you want a saddle that's there but never in the way, maybe not. Then again if you want to use the saddle as a contact point it might be quite good.

Got an I-fly on the DH bike.....really good but certainly doesn't come under the 'budget' banner that the OP was looking for
