So, I'm looking for a new road bike, around £1500 +/-.

Problem is, too many choices! I thought I wanted a carbon frame, but at that budget the group set is cheaper as are wheels. Then I wondered about a good Alu frame which at that price would get a good spec. I have a steel road bike with 7speed dura ace so I'm not considering steel bikes.

On top of all this, I've also spotted some well priced Ti framed bikes, again with lower spec components but... its Ti and I've always wanted a Ti frame!

Will I notice a better drive train that much? Should I go for better frame with lower spec, or better spec with "lower" frame.

I should mention that I'm 30, 95kg, slow and don't compete but fancy doing sportives, club runs and maybe a few TT's

Thanks!

Choose a groupset, choose a frame material then go and look what is available.

People look down on the big brands, but to be honest that's where the best value for money bikes are, and usually backed by decent warranties, and usually are the end product of a lot of R&D.

My own slightly odd tip is to choose a model of bike that has been raced at a high level; they tend to be well sorted...

Like this; its a beautiful frame with good kit on. I'd not have the triple, but it's still a bargain.
