Any ideas? As you can see it's a black/silver combo type thing, the silver (braking section?) is ridged.

All assistance appreciated ๐Ÿ˜€

It doesn't have any stickers on it, came built onto an Alfine wheel I purchased off here last year... no identifying marks that I can see ๐Ÿ™

looks a bit like it, it's certainly the only rim I've seen with this black/silver get up... what about the ridged silver section, does that give anyone any clues? Or the fact it came built onto an Alfine hub, do particular suppliers use particular rims perchance?

cheers for the help folks ๐Ÿ˜€

CR18 is a red herring, all the ones i have seen (a sh1t load) have an entirely smooth braking surface albeit with a few wear indicators on some.

that does look like the right rim tape though... maybe they're de-stickered versions of those. They're disk rims btw, but they've been laced to an XT front hub and an Alfine rear...

what model are those you've posted Telemaster?

The machined braking surface isn't a clue in the slightest, virtually all v-brake rims have come like that for years.

It could be an XC717. But then it could also be Alex, Sun or Bontrager.

Wrong not a red herring - the pair of 26" CR18 rims I purchased last month from Chain Reaction have a machined surface as in the photo.

ah, I don't know ๐Ÿ™ Wheels came on an On-one so I guess they could be retards (do they ahve the machined surface?)

Short story, do we think they're cheap and nasty, or good quality jobbies? I'm selling the wheelset in the classifieds and want to make sure I'm giving folk solid information ๐Ÿ˜€

reetards have machined surfaces.

what does the profile look like?
[img] [/img]

They are pretty good rims IMO. Strong, but at 540g about 100g more than a reasonably light rim.
