The original has lasted two years of year round muddy riding but has been causing chainsuck for 12 months (yes in fact it only lasted 12 months :P).
I know that the steel ones are more durable but heavier (no real big issue re the extra weight so long as performance is same) but are any of the other manufacturers compatible alu offerings worth buying or is it just best to stick with the big S?
Opinions and choice/slections oh wise ones.....
I changed mine to a Middleburn one and that seems to be lasting very well.

The XT alloy ones are approx 25grams.
Deore Steel ones are 40grams.
Both are 64mm BCD 4-bolt.
I will sell you an as-new steel one for £6 UK posted.
I've bought sets and always wear the middle one out much faster than the others, hence the spare 22Ts.
