Any advice on the best rear mech that would suit my XTR M960 shifters, [combined brake levers and shifter]

Ideally I would like to stick with XTR but confused with the different model numbers available etc.

What do you guys think will work best?

Cheers.

Shimano recommend using a low normal / rapid rise rear mech (RD-M970) with dual control but I know Spesh always spec a normal mech (RD-M971) on their bikes with dual control. Any 9 speed rear mech will work, it comes down to personal preference.

as misterP says, rapid rise is what they were developed for and should make the most sense with that..

Have you been using them, and after a replacement mech? If so will be simpler on the brain to replace like for like at least in regard to wether its rapid rise or not...

Thanks guys.
Currently run an XT mech, forget model number.

Only CRC seem to have the M960 rear mech and this seems to me to be 'older' style???

Wondered what the general opinion was to match up with the shifters.

The M960 is an older model of XTR but it is rapid rise so would be a nice match to your shifters. I guess it is at a decent price?

Mister P.
Yes priced at £60.00 so seems a good buy.
