Seeing as it's the Olympics, I've decided to ask the above question.

Currently using Maxxis Beaver and before that an Ardent 2.25, both with some success. What is everyone else rolling on?

What does the olympics have to do with it? (unless you're riding in it of course)

Anyway maxxis crossmax is a very good all rounder

Crossmark here too. It was a bit nervous in the really slippery mud we had recently, but it was great on climbs. Incredible grip considering the tread. And its very fast rolling.

Ive considered the Ribena tyres at On One too.

Crossmark here too. Gets skittish on wet rock, but more or less controllable. LUST ones are heavy but have more slate-proof sidewalls. IME the 2.25 26" Crossmarks are way better than the 2.1 version. Pity there isn't a bigger 29" version. Not had any reason to try an Ikon on the back this year, yet.

Kinda depends what you want it for.

Crossmark-rolls well
Slant Six- as above
Mud X - for mud.
Nobby Nic - nice for damp.
Etc.

Bontrager 29-1 Team Issue 2.2, very light, very fast, way grippier than it has any right to be, a touch fragile but not nearly as much as the weight would suggest. (550g)

Thanks for the suggestions, I may try the crossmark or Bonty 29-1.

Running a Maxxis Ikon on my 29er grips and rolls very well bit expensive but probably the best tyre I've come across

Aspen for the dry

Hans Dampf's for anything other than LOTS of mud.

Mud-X in the mud.

I use a crossmark as well and am impressed with it. Did ride a full suss whyte 29er with ikons on it and was very impressed with those too

Just a note, they're not perfect, but on the rear of my 26" full sus bike I've been running a 2.25" On One Smorgasbord. Prior to that I had a 2.25" Crossmark. I find the Smorgasbord only slightly slower rolling, with more braking grip and straight line traction, though less in the way of edge bite. They do a 29er version too, and currently have some in stock for £15, so worth trying out perhaps...

They're pretty rubbish on the front though (as is a Crossmark), not enough bite on anything other than bare rock.

I'm a massive fan of the Bonti FR3 on the rear. Fast on the hard stuff but still great in the gloop.
