[#3589693]

Endomondo on the phone is doing my head in,big style.Too many inaccurate readings, system pausing, affected by weather conditions, so on so forth blah, blah, blah.

So thinking maybe get a proper GPS i cn use for biking, running ect.

What do the great unwashed masses of Single track recommend?

I have a Edge 705 for roadie use and a Dakota 20 for walking /MTB. Both do their job really well. If I was going for just one now, I'd likely opt for a Edge 800.

What do you want it for? Just recording routes/info? Or Navigating? And heart rate / cadence etc?

This one. - get it running right, and it's a dream. You might need a bunch of processor and sensor hardware mind - find it here: WTP3.

Alternatively, try Strava and Nike+ GPS. I like both. Adidas do a running app, too - not tried it, but a friend swears by it.

Well for running and biking a Forerunner is great. Wear on wrist or quick switch to bar mounted.

I've a few Forerunner 305's. Old tech really - but great at everything apart from navigating. About £100. Newer versions are available.

#Edit - That £100 includes a HRM. Cadence is about £35 extra. Navigation is "breadcrumb trail" stuff - I used it a few times - not ideal but useful for new routes. It's a big watch for running though.

For MTbiking I can't fault my Satmap, full OS mapping on a decent size screen.

For running, I recommend the Forerunner 110. Its a fair bit smaller and lighter than the older models. There is a version with heart rate. It is a bit basic - it will record the route, but is not much use for navigation.

For cycling, I would go for something like the eTrex or Dakota. Add some free maps, and its rather useful for navigating. The eTrex 30 or Dakota 20 will work with heart rate / cadence sensors.
