Hellooo
I am about to order some stendec oil from CRC, should
i get the 5w and the 15w
??????
Well, technically, yes. 5wt for the damping and 15wt to lubricate the internals of the other leg.
BUT
I've run RS forks on 5wt throughout with no problems for a couple of years, and it'll probably be cheaper to buy a litre from a motorcyle shop. It's usually about £7 a litre
I haven't bothered with the 15wt for years. However, instead of using 5wt for the semi-bath like peter, I use some fully sythetic engine oil, since I've got 5 litres of the stuff for the car anyway.
My pikes ( I dunno if different models are different) use 5 wt oil in a sealed cartridge damper and 15 w as lube in the bottom of both fork legs. as the 15 w is only used as lube I don't see that it really matters what oil it is so long as it won/t attack the seals and is thin enough to reach where it should and thick enough to lube.
I happened to have the right oils when I did mine - but would have been quite happy using 5 w fork oil throughout or engine oil for the lube oil
