[#9389428]

after some ideas for a new riding pack as my old lowe alpine one is finally starting to give up the ghost after many years of abuse. looking for something that meets the below spec:

- 20-25 ltr capacity
- compression straps to reduce volume when less kit needed
- main compartment, decent tool organiser compartment, ideally one other compartment for phone / glasses / easy to hand snacks
- ideally some from of waist belt / on harness pocket for easy access to multi tool without tacking pack off
- stretchy mesh / net additional storage pocket for wet kit, rubbish etc
- hard wearing & durable (my packs have a hard life)

have ruled a few brands out already - Evoc as I find the yoke at the top of the straps rubs my neck and Osprey as find them too fragile (although prev experience wasn't a riding pack so prepared told otherwise)

any ideas welcome

Anyone? Or it too deeply unfashionable to ride with a pack these days - not enduro enough?? Or are my requirements too specific and I've just described my old pack!

Yeah I've got an Osprey Talon 22 or something. Great pack. Be careful though - they come in different sizes according to your torso length.

Or any of the Deuter packs are solid.

Sounds like might be worth giving osprey the benefit of the doubt and giving them a whirl again in that case. Had previous issues with the durability of zips and buckles on them in the past (all be it many years ago now)

Thanks for the input

Osprey for me. Had it ages and abused it. Only damage was when i snagged it on a barbed wire fence.
Can't blame anything other than my own stupidity, the pack is still great

Osprey do also have a lifetime warranty iirc...

Fwiw I currently run a Mule but I've had an Osprey daypack (Atlas 25 I think?) for commuter use for a good couple of years now and it's proving unkillable.
