Its easy to spot a newbie, usually still have the reflectors on the wheels!
The gentleman with whom I was riding at the weekend still had his front wheel reflector on his old V-braked GT which had clearly done many miles offroad judging by its battle scars and his ability. We only spotted it when discussing this very subject. As he said, amazing it's stayed on all that time...
I think that one of the worst mistakes you could make is thinking because people have been doing it 20 years that they know what they are doing
True - just do a Polaris. Or come to Germany.
the biggest mistake is forgetting it's supposed to be your liesure time and fun
Have to admit I got the p*** taken out of me once for still having the reflectors on my bike...and again another time for adding some mudguards...only in jest mind but they were spot on about the reflectors ๐
Advice is good...but we all had to start somewhere.
Come to think of it I fell for the 'shreddies inside the shorts' one too ๐
Like I said, we all have to start somewhere and learn a few painful lessons occasionally.
A good lesson is that chamois cream is well worth buying. When your saddle sore and have a few hours left to ride and you've not used it...that is painful!
