Yep, i need one for the bits and bolts around.....
-is it the 243 ???
Yup
242 mate
or 243 depends on thread size i think
I've always used 222 on bike bits. It's low strength so comes undone with handtools. It's strong enough as I've never had anything rattle loose with it.
check out the loctite website as there are so many from
i used to know them by their names
screw lock for little stuff it's blue and i think it's 222
nutlock for bigger bolts it's red cant remeber the number
and the big daddy is high strength retainer green 638
i do tend to use the strong stuff as i have some in the garage but you do need to heat up the bolt to loosen it
do remeber all parts need to be clean and grease free
<<Loctite 638>>
use that under bolt heads and not on threads - works well - use it in engine builds along with its high temp version 648.
one loctite product that cyclist never seem to use is 'bearing fit'... this is ideal for press fit sealed bearings etc in suspension, headsets etc..
it is good as it takes up the minute differences between the outer and inner bearing surfaces and the housing / shafts to stop fretting etc. in the end this makes sure the bearing is the bit moving and not the whole bearing or the shaft spinningv in the middle etc..
also good for repairing/saving pivot shafts, oversize beaing housings
Loctite 248 is the one I use its a solid stick so you dont get the threadlock creeping into parts it shouldnt do
