As far as I can gather the UN54 weighs about 290g.

Are there any lightweight alternatives that don't cost the earth?

Ta.

If youre sticking with square taper, AFAIK, to reduce weight, you need to go into Ti territory, so the possible answer to your question is no. - But I could be wrong 🙂

The UN72 seems to be a bit lighter (about 220g) but can't find them anywhere!

Phil wood does stainless 215g for the 113mm, 147 for Ti and 145g for the ti sipndle / magnesium shell.

Pricey but things of great lovleyness.

Think we may have a Syncros cartridge bearing jobby in the shop for about £35, maybe less. Give me a call on Monday 02920371321 and i'll check up if you're interested.
