The British team for the MTB world cup has partly been announced:

One curiosity is the team relay. I've never heard of this discipline before and was intrigued that downhill world champ Tracey Mosley would be racing.
So what is going on? Is this some sort of multi discipline relay involving some downhill or are we just so crap at Women's XC that we need to pick the fasted rider who happens to be in Champery?
wasn't brian lopes in some team relay thing at dalby round?
It's a 4 person relay race on a short XC course. We don't have any Elite women entered under the BC umbrella at the worlds, although we do have 2 U-23 women. I'm not sure why one of them wasn't chosen - it seems a bit of a trek for Tracey to make for about 5 mins racing.

Tracey raced the XC World cup at Dalby and is by no means slow on an XC bike. I daresay over a shorter distance she'll be pretty damn quick.
There's also a pretty good chance Tracey will be there for the downhill anyway so its not that odd a choice.
Because she's pretty damn good on a xc bike.
Oh is the DH at the same venue? Makes more sense now.
