Also how hot is hot? Anything up to about 35 just the normal trail xc ones. Nothing too heavy in the material.

Gore Alp-X bibtight shorts - decent seatpad and lightweight, vented outer keeps you cool

Lighter liner shorts to keep the undercarriage vented better. I have some tld ones that are mesh apart from the chammy that make a difference when it's really hot.

Mavic Stratos - I think - liner shorts, not the greatest chamois ever but okay and made from mesh. Match with a lightweight baggy with venting.

Endura Humvee Lite are about the lightest and best I've found - and I'm in a hot and sweaty place!
