Just kinda curious really. I've been running the Bontrager XR Trails on the Trek since i got it and i'm not really feeling them. But sometimes we just get on and ride don't we... but this morning i thought i'd try some swapping.

Fabric Magic grips, too long in length and the ribs are too tall.
Brand X, They're not bad but fairly worn and very little grip
Deity knuckleduster, Oh yeah, we REALLY like them
DMR Deathgrip soft/thin, not bad but that mid pattern isn't the nicest.
Bontrager trail XR, hmmm i like these even less after trying the Deity !
Overall the Deity win and i've just ordered a new pair as this set are for the Status 160. But for a couple of days the boy can have the Brand X fitted, not that he ever rides the 160 lol. I think it's moved twice in 3 months.

Renthal kevlar lock-ons. Solid and the sweet spot for softness and durability.

And the very soft but not durable at all supercaz gripz. Good for a bike that doesn't hit things.

Ritchey Trail in bright green to match the colour scheme. Clean up well with a squirt of degreaser. Was worried about the colour, but they've stayed bright green for two years.

I have some cube ones that I really liked, good grip, but they have worn very quickly as they are quite soft. I have peaty lock ons on another bike for a while that I find good too so am going to get another set of them to replace the worn cubes.

You’re over thinking it lol!

But for me I run DMR Deathgrips in thin / soft. Only downside is they wear a bit quicker then other grips I’ve used.

Raceface half nelsons were ok - if a little thin and I had a few go creaky.

My mate swears by Renthal sticky lock ons. Ridden his bike and don’t really notice a difference in the grips so maybe they’re a very similar size to the deathgrips 🤷‍♂️

Renthal Push-On’s in super tacky, it’s the only grip I’ve used in the last 10 years, (15 if you include motorbikes)

Iv’ve had Renthal locks ons and Burgtec Bar-Tenders and though the grips are good, I just don’t like lock ons, there is not enough rubber and to much plastic.
I bought some ODI Longneck push ons last month and they managed 3 or 4 rides, but after the first ride I was only using them while waiting for 2 more sets of Renthals to turn up.

If you want to try the ODI’s stick a £5 in the LDU pot and I’ll post them to you.

Recently moved to Cannondale TrailShroom Grips which might be the new branding for the Fabric's that you mentioned, but I'm liking them so far.

Burgtec bartender Greg minnaars are the current favourite. Was a longtime deathgrip user until lbs didn’t have a pair. Glad they didn’t now as I prefer the minnaars

ODI Elite Pro. I've tried loads, but these are the best I've found.

Just started using PNW Loam grips (Biketart) they're excellent.
Don't think I'll change the Santa Cruz Palmdales though, I like the width of those.

Moved from death grips to the Renthal Traction Ultra-Tacky to try something different and find them to be great.

They are stupidly soft so they do wear quickly but after a year they're still going strong. Very thin and great in all conditions, if you don't wear gloves with them they do leave black marks and bits of rubber on your hands.

ODi dreadlock on three bikes.

I used to use ESI, but found that the ODi have a similar feel but with the advantages of a lock-on and much much better durability.

Usually Thick/Soft/Flangeless Deathgrips, but my new bike has the latest Santa Cruz Palmdales on them and they are really nice (the old Palmdales I didn't like).

New ODI Bjorn V2.1's on the Eeeeeb, feel like firmer grippier Ergons, like them so far.

ODI Vans waffle on the hardtail, mainly because they're right shade of purple.

Generally like Ergon or ODI.

ODI Yeti Lock On.

Tried Renthal sticky things but they gave me pain between by thumb and finger weirdly so despite not having big hands, I stick with fatter grips.

Race Face good n evil push ons.

I have two sets left. I tried revgrips for a while but went back to these. Need to find a thick push on to replace them.

Stuck with the single lock-on Whyte ones that came on the bike, but I like them. Comfy grips with a nice large squishy mushroom at the end and no bar plug to lose.

ODI longneck v2.1 lockon. So comfy but then I like the mushroom pattern.

+1 for these. Previously a serial grip swapper, but riding gloveless for 10 months of the year these are perfect.

ones I've tried that are worth a mention.

ODI Attack- old school, non lock on, not bad.
bontrager rhythm plus - thick enough, grippy, but also squishy.
ESI silicone - comfy comfy, stay on the bars even in the wet, great grip when dry. do not use with bare hands when sweaty or wet, they're slippy as hell!
Ergon GE1 - subtle shape feels like it gives more sweep on your bars. didn't like that.

Now on ODI flangeless longneck pro compound- non lock on, soft grippy compound, pretty long, comfy shock absorption and grippy enough in the wet. come in lots of colours and are cheap.

Just put these PNW Loam XLs on. Lovely squishy feel and fat 34mm width.
I like Deathgrips but they don't last that long so I wanted to try something else.
Love 'em.

Ergon GE1. Got a pair of GE1 Evo Factory too but not sure I like them as much as the original GE1s.

Current ones seem to be invincible though and are getting on to three years now so not in any rush to switch over to the Evos.

I didn't get on with deathgrips, just found them too hard even in thick/soft. My go to has been ESI, most recently in extra chunky, but a sloppy day at Revs made me rethink, just struggled to maintain grip without choking the bars.
Currently trying out PNW Loam XL, they're comfy but seem to have a slight click and just noticeable rotation/play at the outer edge. Will give the Deity Supracush a go next.

Another one with RaceFace Good n Evil old style push-on grips here.

Big hands need big diameter grips. Although fatter than these would be nicer if i could get them.
