I was trying to not spend much money on this road thing but the first spoke snapped this morning on my Shimano R500s. After reading the online reviews, I don't wanna spend lots of time replacing spokes. Time killing kid :o)

So what cheapish wheels for a 95 kilo knacker. Doesn't need to be light, just strong. I would prefer a 'pre made' set, as I clearly need to get out riding off some lard soon.

I was about to recommend Shimano R500s, the 30mm depth rim ones. I'm not as heavy as you (c. 66kg) but i've used mine for loaded touring and so far they seem indestructible.

I've been considerably heavier than you and had no problem with R500s BUT my ones were quite loose from new and required a load of tightening to get them up to a decent standard - doing that meant that spokes never broke.

32h 3x handbuilt. hard to go wrong with open pro/ cxp33 + hubs of your choice. (shimano, dt swiss or miche all make nice hubs for varying budgets)

spokes will be easy to get and replace if you need them.
