just bought a roadrat off the classifieds and wondered what cranks people would recommend? I was thinking 1x9 as it will be to commute on with the odd dirt and single track thrown in too. Only got a small budget so nothing mega exspensive but some thing mid-range, second hand would be good.

Mine has Bontrager GPX or something on it, bought it complete from Cotic. At some point it may get some
White Industry Enos if I'm feeling flush. Can you pick up some SLX or something similar?
Got slx on the mountain bike and really like the but what kind of tooth chainring would suit as the road cranks go alot bigger than the standard 44 outer and don't want to be spinning out on the flats
I got a 45 tooth Alfine off Cy at Cotic when I built mine.
and I have used 1 x 9 and it worked well.
Currently Single speed with drops.
