The front wheel of my new susser is suddenly sitting well to the left in my fork after yesterdays ride. The wheel is in the dropout straight and the wheel is true (enough), all the spokes are tight, and yet it's sitting off to one side almost to the point of the tire hitting the fork leg. Any ideas?
Asymmetric adaptors for the axle?
poor spoke tension so lost it's now dished?
It's a deore hub if that helps at all, and the axle is near enough central in the hub. It could be poor spoke tension but the wheels were used for ages on my other bike without an issue, strange if they'd suddenly changed now?
You have lost a spacer?. Happened to my wife's wheel. According to Stif not the first.
If it is a deore there is no spacer.
Could it be the forks are actually sitting to the right?
Put your bike in the stand and position yourself directly aft of it, about two yards back. Using your thumb as a rule, check alignment of wheels, frame and fork along it's axis. Then repeat when stood to the fore of the bike.
It'll only take ten minutes and it's worth doing as a post ride check.
Are you absolutely sure it's in the dropout straight?
If it's a QR, have you made sure the axle is properly engaged (by setting the bike on the ground, rubber side down) before doing up the QR?
The only other thing I can suggest is a broken axle.
Would an out of alignment fork mean its b*ggered? It's definitely straight in the dropout, I've checked that a lot ๐
I'm going to try a different wheel in there to see if its the fork or the wheel, hopefully its the wheel!
Have you tried putting the wheel in the dropout the wrong way round, is the offset the other way? If so it's the wheel, if not it's the fork.
