How little can you spend to get something decent? I'm not racing but I'm also not doing audaxes, I like something reasonably lively and light.

For around the same price point I'd rather have a good aluminium frame than a so so carbon one :

Don't know. Don't care.
Buy what you want. What colour do you like?

Is the point of this thread not to find the point where the carbon one is at least as good as the alu?

I reckon a grand ish should do the job.

I got a Cinelli Willin frame around this time of year a fears ago for £550 in the sale, down from £1100. Great bit of kit for the price.

I think we did this recently.

It would appear that cheap carbon was ace right up until the point it became widely available to other people.

FM066SL
Race geometry
Sub 900 grams
Tapered steerer
Internal cable routing
Squoval downtube
Beefy bottom bracket
Di2 and mechanical
Looks like a Cervelo R5

What more do you want ?

One of these, take your pick:

I'd probably go for this one, barely over 1kg in 56cm with ISP:

Yep you'll pay import duty and VAT - I have a QS2 which they no longer do, and just paid PF once they'd got it in - but still awesome value.

Seconded. IIRC, mine was less than 600usd even after getting stung at customs. Might be cheaper now there's a new one out.

i bought a ventura cp50 in large (58) from Argos of all places for £450 , think they might still be selling them?
FULL carbon and reasonable parts, i havent used mine yet, and might be persuaded to sell 🙂
