Given that I can't fit a bike in my car, I'm looking for a second car to transport the bikes in. It would be nice if it could double up as a cheap run around to work also now and again.

I'm thinking probably a pickup, perhaps something like a Nissan Navara single cab. Was also considering an MPV, as I've been offered one for £950. You get loads of bikes in the MPVs, but I think its probably just a bit too daddy cool for me! So its probably got to be van or pickup I think. Was thinking something really old for around £2k, but could stretch to £8k.

Anyone been in a similar situation? Any recommendations?

Van or estate car.
Lock the bikes away and out of sight.

A roof rack, towbar rack or hang-on rack it'd be far cheaper?

And just how small a car have you that you can't get a bike in?

Thanks for the replies

No back seats in mine even, but not so keen on a tow bar rack, esp as I don't have a tow bar.

Caddy van might be a good idea, will check out ebay

For value for money it's quite hard to argue with a mondeo estate tbh, you get a lot of car for your pennies, the boot's so big you can park a mondeo in it, there's loads around to choose from... I was really tempted by a van or mpv but I also quite like driving so glad I didn't really.
