I suspect that's more due to the fact he's raced wc DH as a junior rather than a 1.5" difference in wheel diameter 🙄
Edit.I meant Schuter not TJ btw.
Reckon they should have put some table tops in , or at least some worthwhile drop offs
Is this your first time on her since the 90's stm? 😉
Number 8, white top, pinkish helmet, loves styling it up over all the little jumps!
Looks like there is plenty of space for more spectators.
A lot of that course looks a lot like a trail centre....don't think that's a bad thing either.
It also looks like its flippin tough too 8)
ooohhh - handling skillz coming to the fore now.
I was all for criticising the course for being a 2m wide track through a field, but I'm enjoying this!
Can't complain at MTB being on tv either, good camera footage and those slo-mo shots are really good!
Nobody appears to be calling 'Elite rider coming through' at any point 😀
Or yelling "strava!"
The camera work is fantastic. Loving this.
Out of my way I'm on Strava!
needs Mayhem levels of mud though
yep, really enjoying it. Are the top pack all on 29ers?
Stander has seen his asre 😈
disappointed Kabush isn't on a SS69er 🙁
Schoeter is 650b. Think all the others are 29er
Schurter's on 27.5
Finish is gonna be a sprint gamble!
Did any of the yesterday's women eat gels?
Number 8 is giving it some style on that gap jump.
Even in Olympic MTB there's still time for a little whip or two in places.... 😉
Love the fact they are racing flat out, and still put in a little tweak over the jumps for the camera!
They are going like ****. I remember watching the first world cup at Dalby - the too ten or twenty men in the world really are a different class and when you see them
Absolutely tonking up the sharp climbs its extremely impressive.
Surprising amount of running from the lead guys though...
All the niche bikeness of STW (29er, 650, Lefty etc) with half the bodyweight and 10 times the speed and skill!
I think Hermida is on 26" wheels. He's gonna win 😉
Actually, I think this makes it pretty clear: its about the men, not the bke they ride. Full sus, 29, 27.5, 26 they re all up there
Don't think they were the lead guys?
All the niche bikeness of STW (29er, 650, Lefty etc) with half the bodyweight and 10 times the speed and skill!
all possible without a mahoosive bag strapped to their backs too
World class Xc racing an still time to style out a well tweeked mustache for hermida on his merida. ... I think the extra grams might be holding him back mind I'll have to check out weight weenies to see how much weight is in that porn tash
Or a wok smuggled under the top
Nearly forgot - niche retro gumwall effect tyres as well.
niche [s]retro gumwall effect tyres[/s] dugast tubular tyres as well.
It looks very punishing.
Starting to open up at the front now
29ers? 650b? Pah! Call that niche?
Why has no one turned up with a singlespeed surly Pugsley or a Jeff Jones and loudly telling all the other competitors that is just sooooo much more real? 😀
There's a race on now, and an FSR (epic?) leading!
Have put the kiss of death on Hermida? !
Cedric Gracia ?@CedricGraciaThe old chicken is in the front group with the dirty Sanchez mustache ! Come on Hermida
hehehe... just had chat from the OH that it looks more like sand, and they should have some proper muddy rocky riverbeds in there to separate the men from the boys...
niche retro gumwall effect tyres dugast tubular tyres as well.
Which is why the word 'effect' was used.
No - really - I thought he had a set of Farmer Johns on 🙄
Article about the course for any that are interested. The competitors seem to find it hard going anyway.

i'm gonna have to get some dugast tyres at £100 each, not
That's cos you is thick...they stopped making Farmer Johns years ago 🙁
Hermida deserves a medal for the face fur alone
14.5mph ave speed after 5 laps, mental! Fab race to watch so far.
Double post.
I would't bet on a winner with a lap to go.... s'gonna be so close
