[#2771325]

After not being able to fit a Truvativ bashguard to my XTR cranks, I thought I'd better ask before buying a new one. Has anyone fitted a bashguard to XTR cranks and which one was it?

I've fitted a Gamut guard from a P30 guide to a set of M970, no filing, no mods, just straight on.

they're 104bcd so you should have a pretty wide choice of guards.

FG,

I have a RaceFace Prodigy 32T Black Alloy Bashguard.

Fitted and used but never bashed.

Cleaned up a treat...looks new and weighs a meagre 109g!

Same as in this linked picture (I can email a picture of mine):

http://www.dirtworld.com/productreviews/details.asp?id=6751&rn=0&rt=0

Price is £17 Paypal gift for a UK posting.

Interested?

I'm fairly sure it'll be for a 34T ring, Paul. I don't think RF went as small as 32T. If FG wants to see how it'll look on the M970s, there's a picture of mine in this thread.

Three Fish,

The bashguard was on a Prodigy DH crankset with a RF 32T middle and 22T granny.

Good question on the bolts. I think they are from my Saint cranks, which are running an e13 with longer bolts.

In which case, I should have a full set of XTR chainring bolts spare that I could sell. If that's of interest, drop me a mail, I'll check.

I appreciate that; but what I'm saying, and what the picture in your link would suggest, is that the bash could be used to cover a max of 34T. I didn't mean that RF didn't make a 32T chainring, just that I didn't think they made a 32T (max) bash guard. What is the diameter of your bash?

Three Fish,

I understand your comments and think you are probably correct.

So I correct my offer and claim it may cover a 34T middle ring.

Bashguard is not readily accessible today but I will measure it soon and post the figure on here.

Three Fish,

The RaceFace Bashguard does indeed fully cover a 34T with chain.

I will modify any future adverts...thanks.

My Gamut P30 needed a tiny bit of filing- there's something on the Gamut website about it, doesn't invaldate their warranty. Lovely guards though, weigh nothing yet still pretty tough.

E13 Turbocharger fits without any bother at all.
