Don't buy shorts with gel pads. You need a flat stiffish pad that won't wrinkle. Wiggle's dhb shorts with the red pad are excellent value.

Best I've had recently are the zipvit ones that someone psa'd recently. Became a favourite immediately and saw me through a 12 hr solo at last week's gorrick without issue. Only problem is they're very roadie, so would love to find who actually made the shorts and who else uses that pad.

just get something with a elastic interface pad, DHB, Assos, Rapha, Gore etc.

Not all pads are the same, different thicknesses depending on customer and price point.

They do a short only version, and if they're under baggies their roadiness is less of an issue.

[Edit - if you're a lady! they do a short only version]

I've recently bought the basic dhb bib shorts (currently £32) and they are pretty good.
But I got some Lusso carbon gels yesterday and wrote them tonight and they are loads better than the dhb ones.

The dhb ones I got are the cheapest ones though, so maybe the next ones up are a better.

Sportfuls with the TC Pro pad for me. So comfy and well fitted you don't even know they're there. The lower end ones are pretty good too.
