I like the look of the M9020 cranks - but the cost of the replacement chainrings put me off and they are not a narrow wide system (anyone of any experience of these cranks?)
Race face next is too expensive (Budget is around £250)
Any other suggestions?
It's for my trail bike.
Thanks

If you look here they are running the M9020 crank arms with aftermarket bolts and NW rings it is much lighter. This generation of XTR crankset it a quite a bit lighter than the last.
Wolftooth Components do a 96mm BCD narrow/wide ring for M9000/9020, you can't use any ring. I suspect others will follow.
That would get my vote, or X01 (same cranks as XX1) with a direct mount ring.

Of course!
That option is about 100-150g heavier than Shimano XTR or SRAM X01
Thanks frosty. So you're saying that these
will fit onto a shimano external bottom bracket? The description says its a BB30 and io thought that was different to shimanos offering?
Thanks for your help

You would need the GXP BB which is a bit heavier and have a poor reliabilty record compared to Shimano.
XTR M9000 32t aftermarket rings
Crank arms 472g
Aftermarket bolts 8g
Aftermarket ring 50g
BB-70 93g
623g total
X01 GXP Spiderless ring 32t aftermaket
Crank arms 473g
GXP BB 108g
32t spiderless ring 65g
646g total
You can get a hope GXP BB which is more reliable but with the Shimano you can just use the SLX/XT
