Despite DH Magic Mary+Insert on rear and Michelin Wild Enduro front, my son has managed to dent both rims quite badly this week.

So, what durable rims for him to try not to destroy?
(Obvs needs to be in stock).
If the standard EX 471 or EX 511 aren’t in stock anywhere now how about one of these?

Got an ex511 on hardtail and enduro bike. I’ve smashed the hardtail through rock gardens like it had rear travel. Rim hasn’t flinched. Like wise for the enduro bike. Those rims just seem to take abuse
Anyone used the WTB Kom Tough? The old Frequency was a good strong rim, the standard Kom is weak as piss but I'm wondering where the new Tough falls.
Personally I'd be looking at DT and just going up a gnar level. But they are expensive.

I have a NP Horizon front and Hope Fortus 30 rear on the hardtail, both have had a hard life as i ride a fair bit of dh, lots of sketchy landings, rooty and rocky trails, decent size jumps, drops etc, rims on both haven't flinched. Fortus is heavier, fit and forget but with a weight penalty, kinda like the old EX721's - strong, relatively cheap.......you know how this one finishes!

Ha ha, the old Flows were worse for me for cracking (around the eyelets). EX721's lasted me well enough, even the EN521's were decent enough, maybe i was just lucky or less hard on my wheels back then. Strong, cheap, heavy was the comparison i was getting at with the Hopes.

He is running pretty high pressures (30psi rear) already...
For the record he's already chewed up 2x DT Swiss E1800 rears, dented a Halo Vortex and a Newton Enduro...last week was 24000m/434km of descending so not a surprise he did some damage. He's just rather fast downhill and gets carried away...
Try 18 bikes in Hope or 20 Twenty bikes up in Scotland they generally hold good stock of EX511's
If he's a real rim killer then maybe look at the FR560's they're a fair bit heavier though.
Also starting to look around for a new set of rims. Currently on a pair of DT E532, the rear one is quite beaten, a couple of big flat spots.
I for one am quite curious about downsizing to a 25mm inner rim, after listening to too many Chris Porter interviews. The DT EX471 is the classic one, but the E512 is tempting, not much heavier, much cheaper and with a simpler eyelet system
