Been a while since I've looked at suspension forks & there's two things I've noticed - 1) they're bloomin' expensive! 2) they're nearly all tapered & I'm still on an 1 1/8th.

What would the STW massive recommend, for mostly racing.

Rockshox SID xx World Cup ? Very light indeed due to the carbon steerer. There were some bargain kicking about in straight steerer when I bought mine - I needed a taper but still managed to pick it up fairly cheap by waiting for something to come up.

Bought a set of these last month.

For budget forks they are fine, a tad heavy and the decals seem a bit cheap but for air suspension on a budget they do the job and come with a remote lock out.

Cheers, Steve

+1 for the Recon silvers. Remarkably good for the price. Tough too. But over 2kg so you'll always have a disadvantage on the starting line.

Have you thought about a carbon rigid? Run tubeless so you can get a slightly lower pressure and you may not need the suspension. Some of my best finishes have been on a carbon One-One monocoque fork. They come in about 650g!

Not the lightest but Manitou minutes have ever let me down and feel way more than 100mm .

Usually some decent deals about on DT Swiss forks. Mine were ace and highly recommend.
