As my front wheel did it's own thing this morning when encountering the lovely green chalk on my commute my awesome skillz allowed me simultaneously to crash sideways into a bank to limit the fall and to put my knee into a large pile of horse shit allowing it to slide along the ground unharmed.
I was only thinking yesterday I must get a new front tyre as the mud x is on it's third winter and pretty worn down
I had a wrong tyre moment yesterday at Gisburn. Mich dry on front did me no favours as it completely disappeared beneath me when faced with a tasty root. Face first into the gravelly stuff. Anyone find a 4" sq piece of knee skin, let me know.
tbh, on green chalk you need ice spikes to make any real difference to available grip ๐
Did a 40 yard downhill stretch of green chalk on my cross bike yesterday. It took me several hours to unpucker.
I'll try sacrificing a sheep on the way home that might work
as long as you don;t try and move your body weight, pedal, steer or brake you're normally ok, ime.
could you not ride around it on the bank you fell on to?
Did 35 miles on and around the SDW last night.
I'd say I was going in the direction my front wheel was pointing about 40% of the time....!

Actually it's a stretch along the back of Woodingdean where I could divert onto the grass, it'll mean taking on a minefield of dogshit though! I'll try that tonight and leave the sheep sacrificing for a day at least.
My bit was south of A27 between Asda roundabout and Patcham.

Rode from Worthing to Whiteways, around Whiteways & back again in the dark on Saturday night. I was either spinning in the mud or spinning on the chalk.
Didn't help that my inbred is out of action so I was on the 1x10 160mm coil-fed full susser with 2.5 Supertacky on the front & still running that High Roller on the back. Climbing up the dog leg to Whiteways was.......interesting......
