Just looking at annual trip to Spain and notice Ryanair now have a limit of 20kgs on bikes before they start to charge £20 per kilo excess weight. It was 32kgs last year and no excess. If I am right taking a bike to Spain now costs £580. Rubbish or what?
Easyjet seem to make a big deal of bikes only in the box, no clothes, shoes etc
Winge over - any suggestions? (apart from riding in the UK - we do that the other 50 weeks of the year in the rain snow fog etc etc!)
It's no problem to fly with your bikes, so long as you know what the rules are. Ryanair are 20kg and 15kg for other baggage. I managed to get my 35lb Hustler and all my gear for a month in Scotland in at just a few kg over and it wasn't a problem for me with no excess baggage in Spain or the UK.
I flew back with Easyjet and I had a couple of issues because I'd stuffed my bike bag full of spare tyres, muesli bars and thai curry paste 🙂 Even with all that I was 32kg for the bike bag and 20kg for the hold bag so was OK.
