I expected yesterday to be the last dry day, but it still hasn’t rained. Not as sunny, so less lovely photos. But equally fabulous trails. I took a photo of my stanchions - just so I can remember what they look like with dust on them!
Was going to have a day off from riding today but changed my mind when Mrsstu headed out for a lunchtime ride.
Would have been rude not to join her.😁
Only 20KM/500 Meters and a bonus hike a bike after a trail that didn't work out as hoped.
Still not bad for a day off riding and loads of young lambs leaping about in the fields loving life is always a nice sight.

Dropped the kids with their crew and did some brush cutting...2.5 hours of it with chats to riders.
Harder than riding at 30 degrees and humid.
Today we stopped at Nesscliffe for a ride/ dog walk
My dad used to live in the estate there but sadly died 15 years ago. We'd spend most weekends walking around those woods, the cliffs and kynaston's cave. I haven't been there for years. Thanks for sharing, your pics brought back lots of happy memories.
Nothing so far this weekend for me but here's one from Thursday evening, best ride of the year so far.
Arghh, first time trying to post pics on new site last night, fail 🙁
another try :
sunny Aberfoyle 🌞
@iainc: that’s beautiful. Where’s that?

I pulled my thigh a couple of weeks ago riding on through mega cramp. I thought it had got better so went for a ride this morning. 4 miles in it stated hurting, so I just did a few miles on some fire roads instead.
Different today from the week, cloudy, foggy and light drizzle. Didn't need a base layer or jacket, however, so silver linings and all that!
Thursday is the weekend too right? 😉
Ilkley, riding like summer but without the ferns hiding the trail
Good to see so many people still rocking a hardtail 🙂👌
Drove 1.5 hour to Finale, to find the trails closed because of the heavy overnight rain, so drove back, 20 minutes later they called me to say they had reopened, so back I went, got 2 uplifts in, staying here tonight, ride again in the morning, then back to Lavagna.
Faffed about all morning then decided to go out just as it started raining. Mint ride though, absolutely drenched by the end. Only one photo stop
Genuine dust yesterday
Wyre Forest. Never been before. Turns out it's really nice.
@kayak it's at its best this time of year, winter means lots of mud. Some great trails if you know where to look, pretty much 99% of them are unsanctioned trails that have evolved over the last 30 years I've been riding there

Yeah, I thought of you actually driving there as you're Bromsgrove aren't you?
There's loads of lovely little bits of singletrack. Really cool place. Driven past it quite a lot on the way to Shrops but never got round to stopping.
That bench you're sitting on. Just off Rouncil Lane towards Goodrest farm between Kenilworth and Warwick?
Downhill Sunday with Reeksy1 again.
A few laps on the DH track and a few goes on the firetrail rocks.
A mate lost his light last week & then did this back in, so couldn't go to look for it.
I went up the most brutal climb on the mountain to try & find it for him & had a bit of luck.
Stopped at Cascade brewery on the way home & they gave me a pint for free.

A riding mate from up here did the North to South track (in both directions) a couple of days back. Today he came 3rd in category at the Maydena Enduro.
Thursday on the Quantocks 👌I don't do weekends being retired everyday is a W/E 😁
Just arrived in Chatel today. All-day-rain was forecast, but it was actually nice and dry when we got here. So I hopped on the bike and thought I’d see if I could get all the way up the climb I found a few weeks ago (at that time, the higher sections of trail were still snow bound, and I didn’t want to dice with death to try to make it to the ‘top’).
I was soooooo proud of myself for getting to the chalet at the top of the climb (not the top of the mountain!). So I thought I’d try out the joining trail I thought I’d spotted on the map, which heads across the hill from the chalet to a fabulous single track descent. Started very promising, but the damn trail just stopped abruptly, right in the middle of the mountain. I tried forging ahead, but the risk of falling down a steep hillside became too much. So, heartbroken, I turned back.
So I got back the the Chatel, and pussyfooted my way back down over the snow. Made it to the trail, and within 50m had a loud, abrupt puncture. No problem, changed the tube. But the damn pump (Blackburn) refused to pump put the tyre. I will never buy a Blackburn product again. I’m so annoyed. I was ready for a world class singletrack descent, but had to walk my bike all the way home - after almost giving myself a heart attack getting up the steepest fire road ive ever ridden.

Baslow Edge, Curbar Edge, a bit round Blacka, Rabbit, Devils, Flowhouse and back. Cold, misty, everywhere piss wet through. Absolutely cracking ride
Another local ride. Still rehabbing the hand so nothing too strenuous/techy. Getting a bit happier with being in the air again in a tiny, mincing way (well, being in the air is fine, it's the impact of hitting the ground again bit that's still a concern).
And, another week, another new lens. This one's a late seventies / early eighties Spiratone (Sigma) 18mm/f3.5. Shame it's not a bit faster but I quite like it so far.

Karma.
Though you deserved more than one free pint.😎
Road bike yday to accompany EpicJnrs training for the Fred. Went up to the ashdown and back down a bit westward of the usual and discovered some wonderful lanes and oddities. Could have been mistaken for a gravel ride in places....
Has it worked this time
Adding a pic has fallen over for me this evening... No different to how I've done it before
Finale again today, (Little Champery maybe my new favourite trail) with the bonus of other than £48 for a room Saturday night, and paying for the uplifts it cost me nothing as it’s a weekend between 2 weeks working here.
I have another job in the area coming up in the next couple of months but it will only be a couple of days. so now planning to bring the bike again and take a few days holidays here.
Trip away to South Wales this weekend.
BPW Friday and Saturday, we all (mostly) kept it rubber side down and I rode pretty well I think. Got more comfortable on some of the harder tracks:- Dai Hard, Cole not Dole, Escort, Half Cut and Zut Alors being the highlights.
Bottom end of A470 still defeated me (big/ scary/ very fast/steep tables) and also I scared the shit out of myself on the Boomslang lilly pad thing by not committing to the second gap and only just about stopping on the lilly pad 😬
Today was unsactioned off piste in some woods not far away from where we were staying. Got chatting to a really friendly local lad who was good enough to show us around. Got shown, and then found, some absolutely brilliant stuff.
Weather totally played ball - rained just after we finished on the Friday but didn't rain on us at all whilst riding. Trails were totally prime and the Friday rain improved trail conditions for Saturday and today.
Was an ace trip!
Monday afternoon gravel lap. Saw a shoe a 4x4 must have lost when they got bogged. Then a Roo I call Twitch for its wonky ear. Haven't seen it for a while but it was on the same corner I've seen it before.
No pics but fun uplift at dyfi yesterday. properly busy but the Tracks are fun. Will go back and ride some of the more interesting ones next time as we didn't really scratch the surface
Out on Dartmoor for a few days with an eclectic selection of E-bikes, Anaolgue bikes and Singlespeeds (including one full rigid...) piloted by a group of middle aged men and one woman, and for once the forecast rain held off and we were treated to the best natural trails in the South West...
