Thinking of riding this route next weekend, with all the rain that we have had are the boggy sections going to be passable?

It used to be a BOAT, so used by fat people in 4 x 4s, and well chewed up a few years ago after bad weather. But ithink wrexham council spent some cash on it and upgraded it with a better surface

I've ridden it once, a couple of months ago, and don't recall any boggy sections - quite a stony track. It was a wet ride then, but just standing water, no mud-fest.

Not too bad, especially after the work put in by the 4WD groups ๐Ÿ˜† Can't remember if the railway sleepers are still there but they were damn slippery

If you missed the bog of doom you've not done the whole 62km route.

It's always wet through there but otherwise it's pretty good terrain.

This 'bog of doom' which from my understanding is here:

Bog of doom

Can we avoid it by heading up this bridleway? Or is it equally grim? (I expect to be pushing up here...)

This thread needs pics!

Rode it many years ago and my only pics were taken with a disposable camera. ๐Ÿ™‚

It's wet feet there for sure - although wouldn't call it a bog of doom myself. Not worth a detour IMO, given how steep that alternative bw looks. [There is a track just by it, though, that might be more rideable].

I found the descent from the Bog of mild unease to be a bit of a handful in the wet. It's a steep grassy hillside, be great with a bit of grip - when I did it my front tyre packed up with wet grass and sheepsht, ended up sliding down half of it on me backside.

Cheers for the info on the bog. I'd read of knee deep boggish hell.

Could be interesting this weekend then ๐Ÿ˜†

That's the start of the bog ...

I love the little bit of singletrack through the quarry afterwards. Makes the bog worthwhile.
