Waterproof jacket without a hood?

[#12917127]

I went through all this last winter and bought a Rab something or other which is nearly perfect except it has a big hood and no way to stow it away or clip it rolled up and unless the thing is fully zipped up to my chin the hood just flaps about behind me 🙁

What I want is something like this, but without a hood OR a decent way to stow the hood https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/mountain-bike-rain-jacket-expl-700/_/R-p-330643?mc=8640904&c=RED

I also want a lighter weight version aswell but that's less urgent as I still have something that's doing the job.

Cheers

Cut the hood off, or get an outdoor gear tailor to modify it so it can be stowed?

I actually had it out on the kitchen table today with a sharpie and a pair of scissors… but decided not to chop it, I’ll keep it with the hood for walking instead.

I hate hoods on riding jackets too.

Bought one of these in a sale, it's great, lightweight, waterproof and no hood.

I have a lightweight Gore GoreTex jacket with a hood which I just tuck inside the jacket most of the time. Helps keep it snug around the neck and draughts out.

I’ve got a Gorewear Active which is lightweight / waterproof / has no hood at all. Think it’s a C3 fit and cycling specific. The active membrene is great as it’s lightweight and fully waterproof.

I think it might be end of line now - but Amazon have them for £140 at the moment.

Is the Hummvee actually waterproof though, maybe just shower proof? My Endura Singletrack isn't waterproof anymore 🙁

My wife's got one and thinks it's ace, so I ordered one to try but unfortunately they're a funny fit on me. Too tight on the kneck and across the shoulders I think.

That's what I do, but it still gets annoying if you undo the zip at all as it doesn't stay put.

I have one of these https://www.galibier.cc/product/tourmalet-3-waterproof-cycling-jacket/

Maybe still not "the one" but well worth the money, and packs down small. Quite a slim fit so consider going up a size.

Used to like morvelo stuff but I am not a fan of all the lairy patterns they have now.

If you want it tailoring drop me a DM. I could trim it so it has a high neck to give a little more coverage at the back.

I went for one of the Giro coats aimed at roadies. MTB jackets tend to come with (annoying) hoods.

I'm a massive fan of the Showers Pass jackets I have.  Both are hoodless (the Elite 2.1 i think, that I use for mtb and commute has velcro fur patches for attaching one if bought separately. So versatile. But comes sans-hood.

Thr other ai have is a roadie cut one. Bit lighter, still great waterproofness (is that a word?)

I've got a giro stow H20 for this reason. Packs up small, it's good.
I wouldn't mind another jacket with a hood big enough to go over a helmet for REALLY minging days, mind.

Cheers all, I thought I’d give Gore another go and bought a different one to the last that I tried.

This fits perfectly, packs down small and has no hood. Sorted 🙂
